Azhes - Blood Death Knight Application

Postby Azhes » Thu Nov 10, 2016 4:22 am

Player information:
- Age & Location: 21, Edmonton, Canada
- Number of Testicles: 2
- Do you use a blizzard authenticator? If not, why? I do use an authenticator.
- How long have you played WoW: 11 years
- Endgame experience (What bosses have you killed): Even though I have been playing a Blood Death Knight since they were made available in WoTLK, I did not start raiding until late MoP, where I cleared 14/14 Normal Siege of Orgrimmar relatively late into patch 5.4. I killed Heroic Imperator Mar’gok on February 20, 2015 and Heroic Blackhand on May 10, 2015. I killed Mythic Archimonde on March 3, 2016, achieving a US #340 ranking.

Character Information:
- Name, & Class: Azhes Death Knight
- Link to Battle.net Armory: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/i ... s/advanced
- Race & why you chose it: Blood Elf for the extra runic power generation and silence from Arcane Torrent
- Professions and why you choose them: Mining/Blacksmithing to be able to make early expansion armour for myself, so I can be fully raid geared a little faster.
- Spec, Dual spec. How often do you play other specs? I am proficient in both Frost and Unholy and run Mythic+ dungeons in them from time to time to keep in practice with them.
- Explain your choice of gear for main & offspecs (include stat priorities and breakpoints): I prefer to play a haste > crit build for Blood, which is the stat priority used for increased dps, rather than the haste > versatility build which is more in favour of survival. However, due to the lack of haste/crit plate gear in Emerald Nightmare, most of my gear is haste/mastery. Generally any piece with more haste is quite valuable.
For Unholy, I follow a crit > haste build, which is chosen if the Tier 3 talent Castigator is used instead of Clawing Shadows. This Castigator build is a significant dps increase over the Clawing Shadows build.
For Frost, I first stack haste to 20%, then stack crit to 25%.
- Explain your normal rotation and spell/ability priorities: Blood’s current iteration does not have a set rotation, but more of a set of priorities. The first priority is to maintain at least 6 stacks of Bone Shield (3-4 stacks from each cast of Marrowrend). Maintaining 6 stacks is optimal, for 1) it allows for full use of our best Tier 3 talent, Ossuary, which reduces the cost of Death Strike by 5 runic power if we have at least 5 stacks of Bone Shield, which means more healing and damage throughout the course of the encounter, and 2) using Marrowrend when our stacks drop to 6 allows us to reach 9-10 stacks of Bone Shield with one use of the ability. This ties into our best Tier 6 talent, Foul Bulwark, which provides a 2% increase in health for each stack of Bone Shield.
Our second priority is to use Death and Decay on CD and stand in it. While standing in Death and Decay, Heart Strike and Marrowrend generate 15% increased runic power when used in conjunction with our best Tier 2 talent Rapid Decomposition. Additionally, standing in Death and Decay causes Heart Strike to hit up to 5 targets, thus increasing cleave damage and healing from the Blood Feast artifact talent, which causes Heart Strike to heal for 25% of the damage it deals.
Next, Heart Strike is used to generate runic power, which is then spent on Death Strike to either heal after taking damage or avoid capping on runic power. The talent Heartbreaker is always taken to generate more runic power. Always use blood boil on CD and avoid capping the 2 charges.
Much of the current iteration of Blood revolves around management of our largest defensive CD, Vampiric Blood, which increases our maximum health and healing taken by 45% for 10 sec. This should be used almost on CD or delayed if a large damage spike in incoming. The talent Red Thirst is required, as it causes the remaining CD on Vampiric Blood to be reduced by 1 second per 6 runic power spent. Furthermore, the legendary belt (which I have been lucky enough to acquire) causes each use of Heart Strike to further reduce the remaining CD on Vampiric Blood by 1 second. With proper management, it is possible to have a 35%-40% uptime on our strongest defensive CD.
Blood’s other main CD is Dancing Rune Weapon, which increases parry chance by 40% and summons one (two with the Mouth of Hell artifact trait) rune weapons which copy melee attacks. While the 40% parry chance is decent as a defensive CD, this ability is a huge dps increase and can be used on pull for a large burst (for a tank).
- Prior guild(s) & your reasons for leaving: My previous guild is Esoteric on Illidan. They have a late night raiding schedule that is not compatible with my current schedule anymore.

I fully welcome any constructive criticism. I don't mind being called out on mistakes or failures and I take personal responsibility for any that I make.

ty for answering my question. Although I know nothing about DK tanks, I am hoping an officer is looking at this app.

Good app, but at this time we're going to go with another option. Best of luck in your guild search.
