Telegon - Boomkin

Postby telegon » Sat Feb 09, 2019 6:24 pm

Player information:
- Age & Location: 22 - Florida
- Number of Testicles: 2
- Do you use a blizzard authenticator? Yes
- How long have you played WoW: I began playing in wrath, but only started trying to be competitive in legion
- Endgame experience (What bosses have you killed): Argus and Ghuun CE
- Prior guild(s) & your reasons for leaving: I'm currently raiding in Carnage on Illidan. I put a lot of effort into reducing my learning curve for progression encounters. I do not currently feel the same level of care being put forth by my fellow raiders. I also feel a distinct lack of effort from the leadership in terms of strategy/attitude/etc.

Character Information:
- Name & Class: Televate - Druid
- Link to battle.net Armory: http://us.battle.net/wow/character/illi ... e/advanced
- Main-spec, off-spec, and how often do you play your off-spec? Moonkin, Resto, I rarely play resto druid.
- Explain your normal rotation and spell/ability priorities:
General Rules:
Don't overcap on astral power
Don't overcap on empowered solar wrath / lunar strike charges
Don't refresh your dots outside of pandemic window unless movement requirements force early refreshes to avoid downtime
Do not repeat casts during incarn/celestial alignment windows
Pool astral power for movement requirements
Pool astral power for arcanic pulsar incarn/celestial alignment windows
Attempt to get 2/3 starsurges during Incarn/CA windows
If you have no empowerments available cast wrath to generate AP on a single target
If you have no empowerments available cast lunar strike to generate AP on >= 2 targets
- Explain your choice of gear for main & offspecs (include stat priorities and breakpoints):
My current priority follows:
Mastery>Haste>Crit>Vers>Intellect
I am currently at 16.59% haste, I believe around ~20% crit will overcome haste.

I have yet to do any research on optimal play&setup for resto druid, but could of course do so should the need arise.
- Where do you do most of your research & testing to improve your character?
I do general research on WoWhead/Icyveins guides, then do more specific research in warcraftlogs. Specifically, I abuse the cast sequence timelines to see what they look like depending on the fight across different logs. I also watch videos of high end players playing my class in whatever context I am researching.
- Why should we accept you over anyone else of your class/spec?
I believe that I would be a valuable addition primarily because of my awareness. I can be heavy relied upon to do fight specific jobs when necessary. I try my best to have a positive attitude and learn/adapt to mechanics and fights as quickly as I can.
Other Information:
- A Screenshot of your character's UI in a raid:

- Logs from warcraftlogs: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/character/ ... /televate#
- What kind of computer do you use? CPU/Memory/Video Card? Typical FPS during mythic raid?
I use a pc that I built. i7-6700/16gb ddr4/1070gtx. I get around 30-40 fps during a raid while streaming.
- Why Simple Math? How did you find us? Is there anyone you know in Simple Math?
I know Cheesedot, a recent applicant, but otherwise I just saw a guild with no boomkin whose wowprog blurb I liked and applied.
- Run a speed test and ping test targeting New York. Link the results below.

- Finally, we ask that you draw a picture using MS Paint (Windows) or Paintbrush (macOS).

I forgot to speak about azerite gear, but the ideal raid setup is:
Streaking Stars 3x
Treacherous Cov 2x
Arcanic Pulsar 1x

Although I believe Tcov should be changed for Jaina because of the damage profile during phases 2 and 3.

Hey man, I am the resident balance druid of this guild and I just have some things I want to point out on your application.

First off all your general rule of thumb for your stats. I dont know if you currently simmed yourself and that is what you put as your stat weights, but for most balance druids you want Haste>Mastery>Crit>Vers. Only when around 20% haste on ST will Mastery become more valuable and not crit, but then again that is not hard coded as simming yourself is ALWAYS the best way to determine what your current best stats are.

So my question is do you know what raidbots is? If so do you use it at all? If so could you link your statweights? I'm just curious
Do you know of the Dreamgrove Discord/Website? (Which it appears you do not as you didn list either in your app) they are the go to spot for finding information about balance druid and its a great place to seek any guidance on how to help your overall dps. Please use this.
What do you base the haste being at 20% crit will become better on?

Thanks!

Heya, apologies for not realizing you exist :( I trusted the wowprog raid list when I shouldn't have.

I do use raidbots for all the simming I do.
I am aware of Dreamgrove and have read through it pretty recently, but I will be sure to check back more frequently since you commend them so highly.

I guessed that at 20% haste crit will be of a higher weight on ST due to simming a more ideally geared boomkin.
As I have 16.5% haste and the druid I simmed had over 20 with haste being their third worst weighted stat by quite a bit, I assumed their might be a breakpoint somewhere around 20%. I threw out this guess carelessly without getting a large enough sample, if we're being honest. As there seems to be no link between haste % and the greater value of crit over haste in a pure single target scenario. So at this point I'm not sure what causes the swap in weight for crit and haste on ST, my current guess might be something to do with streaking stars traits but I honestly don't know. Perhaps it has something to do with the simc api itself.

I assumed a single target scenario in my explanation of my own stat weights, although I am aware it is not generally the case in this raid, mekkatorque and jaina stand out as fights where ST damage is the priority.

This was bothering me last night so I did some more work on it with a friend. It seems that when simc places mastery or mastery and crit above haste your character has hit a point of haste where mastery and crit have more value. However, we tried dropping a haste gem on people who simmed mastery>crit>haste and immediately their stat weights reverted to haste>mastery>crit. So we believe that there exists haste breakpoints on single target encounters which are largely dependent on your own gear. However if you are at this breakpoint you cannot give up any haste for either of the higher weighted stats. You might possibly want to drop vers/int for crit or mastery at this point without losing any haste rating if the option is available to you.

That being said, here are two top gear sims of mine for enchants/gems on patchwerk and hectic add cleave.
