Ricket - Hunter

Postby Ricket » Fri Aug 31, 2018 11:04 pm

Player information:

- Age & Location: 26 Canada, Ontario

- Number of Testicles: 0

- Do you use a blizzard authenticator? If not, why? Yes

- How long have you played WoW: Since the launch of Cataclysm

- Endgame experience (What bosses have you killed): I've been actively raiding since Cataclysm. I've killed every boss on the highest raid difficulty possible (initially Heroic, later Mythic at the end of Mists of Pandaria) with the exception of Sinestra (it was my first raiding guild and we never quite cleared the content). I took two short breaks in WoD (particularly during BRF), but still experienced all the content while it was current.

- Prior guild(s) & your reasons for leaving: In Legion, I was a founding member of Washed Up Scrubs on Mal'ganis. I raided there since day one up until the end of Tomb of Sargeras. I endured the struggles of a growing guild but once the raiding improved, the environment changed. I took a huge downgrade in guild progression in order to find enjoyment in the game again because I was no longer having fun. So, I left to join CryHavoc and raided there up until it disbanded after we killed Argus. We were plagued with numerous problems and decided to stop raiding. I decided to take a break from raiding up until BFA, but remained very active in the game and found a lot of enjoyment doing Mythic+ and other non-raid content.

Character Information:

- Name & Class: Rickett, Hunter

- Link to battle.net Armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/chara ... er/Rickett

I'm assuming I'm applying as a Hunter (which I'd prefer at this point anyways, as it's always been my main) but was enjoying my Death Knight and entertained the idea of maining it as well. I've maintained it well since launch, so here's her armory: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-us/chara ... hewer/Reik

Also going to mention that I will be picking up a Darkmoon Deck by the time Normal and Heroic Uldir releases next week, I just want to know where I'm going/what I'm playing so I can potentially save gold

- Main-spec, off-spec, and how often do you play your off-spec? I mainly play BM but am well-versed with Marksman. I know how to play Survival and could get comfortable quick if for whatever reason I was required to play melee, but in that event, I'd honestly rather just play my Death Knight. I'm not as familiar on the Death Knight as I've never mained it and it's new territory for me, but I'm familiar with Frost, Blood, and Unholy (but again, looks like I'm applying as a hunter, just thought I'd mention it.)

- Explain your normal rotation and spell/ability priorities: I'm assuming normal rotation on single-target? Big cooldowns (Bestial and Aspect of the Wild), Kill Command (keep on cooldown), Murder of Crows (keep on cooldown, always cast within a Bestial Wrath window), Barbed Shot, Cobra Shot. BM in BFA plays similar to the old Dire Frenzy build, you want to never top out charges on Barbed Shot (because you'll lose out on any procs), but you want to space it out as much as possible to maximize and maintain Frenzy stacks on your pet. Some Azerite traits help with this (eg. increasing the duration on Frenzy).

- Explain your choice of gear for main & offspecs (include stat priorities and breakpoints): Crit and Mastery, mainly; Haste generally will sim lowest on single-target now, but is usually up there with Mastery for AoE. I believe you typically go Haste and Mastery for Marksman (for both AoE and single-target). Weights always shift around with gear upgrades, though, and typically having a significantly larger amount of any one stat on a piece of gear will justify swapping it in.

- Where do you do most of your research & testing to improve your character?
I'll test little interactions in game. I'll look at forums on occasion. I use RaidBots to sim my character to determine what my weights are when I receive upgrades. Simulations are nice, but the proof is in the pudding and I always look at logs especially when there's something I'm questioning (my logs, as well as other peoples' logs).

- Why should we accept you over anyone else of your class/spec?
I'm not the best at selling myself (I feel I'm pretty humble), but I'll try?
I'm always trying to do better and improve. I show up and I communicate, but I'm a pretty quiet personality in a raid environment. I am always down to do things outside of raids and am very active in the game in general (hence the Mythic+ Experience on wowprogress). I'm passionate about this game and I always put in effort. I think that I can prove that pretty well, given the fact that I have two Uldir-ready characters despite still being unsure about where I'll be raiding.

I guess the TLDR is I'm consistent with my performance, I communicate well, I have a relaxed personality, I put in effort, and I show up. What more do you want from a raider?

Tomb of Sargeras

Antorus

A note about my Antorus logs: we stopped raiding after we killed Argus, and we extended until we got the kill. We were having issues as a guild and a lot of people were leaving after the kill. When we got it, we continued to recruit and tried to get new players on board. We had a few weeks of "partial" farm (I never got a second Aggramar or Argus kill, and a lot of the post-Argus farm was slop with so much turnover especially since a lot of the people we brought in were underexperienced or just not very good.) My performance average speaks for itself across all other tiers, but I had died on the only kill of Aggramar and Argus I have. My death on Aggramar was not my fault (someone killed me with the ranged aoe penne, and other people fucked up prior to that so we didn't have a battle res). On Argus the first two deaths are part of the encounter (the RP death and tree suicide), the "real" death in the log is just me dying to damage and not being topped off (tortured rage which is the raid wide aoe, and shattered bonds, also raid wide damage).

- What kind of computer do you use? CPU/Memory/Video Card? Typical FPS during mythic raid?
CPU: Core i7-4820
GPU: 4G GeForce MSI GTX 970
I have an SSD. I haven't upgraded anything in the last 3 years or so, but I stream regularly, so I can tell you my setup and connection isn't horrible. Typical FPS usually ranges from 60 to 80 but it depends on what's going on.

- Why Simple Math? How did you find us? Is there anyone you know in Simple Math?
The guild name is familiar (I know Simple Math is an old name) but I skimmed the roster and I don't know anyone here.
Ksg saw my profile on wowprogress and spoke to me briefly tonight and encouraged me to apply.
